About the Bhojpuri Alphabet

The Bhojpuri language uses the Devanagari script for writing, the same script used for Hindi and other North Indian languages. Bhojpuri is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in eastern India and Nepal. The script is an abugida where consonants have an inherent vowel that can be modified with diacritical marks.

History
