About the Khmer Alphabet
The Khmer script is an abugida used to write the Khmer language. It is descended from the Brahmi script and is related to Thai and Lao scripts.
History
The Khmer script evolved from the Pallava script of South India during the 7th century CE. It has been used continuously for over 1,400 years.
